ASD & ADHD Diagnosis:
There is no one test that is used to diagnose ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, or other developmental issues. A detailed history and various psychological and educational tests are most often used to arrive at a proper diagnosis for ASDs and ADHD. Depending upon the clinical situation, a physical exam may also be performed. The diagnostic workup that is performed is individualized for each patient but falls under guidelines  published by various professional organizations.

ADHD Treatment:
Once a proper diagnosis for the patient is reached, an individualized treatment plan is developed. This treatment plan is meant to be comprehensive in nature and to serve the patient both in the short and long term for their ASD or ADHD. The plan may involve several treatment modalities including medication, individual therapy, family therapy, social skills training, modification of school programs or workplace environments and other appropriate interventions.

Monitoring:
Care does not end with a diagnosis and treatment plan. Dr. Katz provide follow-up care for each of his patients and this follow-up is often critical to overall treatment and clinical success. Depending upon the clinical situation, some or all of the follow-up care may be provided by the patient’s primary care physician.

Coordination of Care:
Care for patients with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other developmental and behavioral issues has often been difficult to find and typically has been fragmented in nature. As an ADHD specialist and expert in these types of disorders, Dr. Katz is able to provide and coordinate care in one location and provide communication back to the primary care physician as well as other professionals as indicated. The goal is to ensure that all appropriate parties are on the same page when it comes to diagnosis, treatment, and goals.
